Amalia Collins, LPC, LMFT, ATR
Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Art Therapist
Hello I'm Amalia Collins, I work with adults, adolescents and children to improve whatever areas of their life they are wanting to work on. My theory of orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT identifies the patient’s specific problems and creates targeted goals in order to solve them. CBT is a treatment that aims to alter the way you think and behave. As a fusion of CBT (analyzing your thoughts) and behavior therapy (how you act), it’s based on the idea that your thoughts on situations affect how you behave. I also utilize art, play and sand tray therapies. My areas of expertise include depression, anxiety, adolescent issues, lack of motivation and negative thinking. I provide a non-judging, safe environment to ensure the freedom of those willing to explore areas with which they might be struggling. This involves coming to terms with what is true for oneself and how life's experiences have effected us, in order to move towards living a truly authentic life.
I have been practicing counseling for over 25 years. I graduated from College of Notre Dame in 2000 with a dual masters degree in Child Marriage and Family Counseling and Art Therapy. My undergraduate degree was from the University of Montana. My clinical experience has been; a counselor at Achieve Therapeutic School in San Jose, California. FamiliesFirst in Campbell, California a private foster care agency working with children and families in foster care and shelters. In 2003 my husband and I moved from California to Texas as I accepted a position as Senior Counselor at St. Joseph Adolescent and Family Services, a division of Catholic Charities in Dallas. After 4 years at St. Josephs I moved to the Director of the program. In 2008 I left the commute to Dallas to work at Counseling and Consulting Associates of North Texas, a group practice in McKinney. I worked mainly with adults and teens there. In 2016 I decided I could do this on my own and started my practice and I'm loving it!

When I’m not working I happily spend my time raising my twin daughters with my husband, I enjoy being in nature, working out, spending time with friends and family and I love any time I can be out on the water.

Whether you seek extra support and guidance in a challenging situation or are just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

Stephanie Duong-Hughes MS LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor
I counsel adolescents and adults with interests in treating anxiety, depression, eating disorders, self harm, and self-esteem. I lean towards using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to identify goals, provide structure, and disrupt the maladaptive cycle of thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. I enjoy being creative and brainstorming with clients in session, whether that be analyzing music or finding new therapeutic activities for you to engage in. I initially came to the DFW area from Houston to complete my bachelors at UT Dallas and earned my degree in speech-language pathology and child development, then explored other career fields and discovered my passion in mental health counseling. I completed my masters at Texas A&M Commerce and have found a passion in empowering and sitting alongside my clients in their healing journeys. I am passionate about connecting with others and forming a therapeutic alliance promoting independence and strength.
Outside of the therapy space, I'm with my wonderful family at home reading, watching a cooking show or reality TV, or spending time outdoors. On vacations I can be found either at a national park or kayaking. My husband and I did our wedding vows in Zion National Park and I've marked 7 national parks off my list so far. I enjoy my self-care time and love trying new restaurants.
I currently see clients Tuesdays, Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings in-person or virtually. Let's connect and see if we're a good fit!
