Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Registered Art Therapist
Hello I'm Amalia Collins, I work with adults, adolescents and children to improve whatever areas of their life they are wanting to work on. My theory of orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT identifies the patient’s specific problems and creates targeted goals in order to solve them. CBT is a treatment that aims to alter the way you think and behave. As a fusion of CBT (analyzing your thoughts) and behavior therapy (how you act), it’s based on the idea that your thoughts on situations affect how you behave. My areas of expertise include women' issues, men's issues, depression, anxiety, adolescent issues, lack of motivation and negative thinking as well as parenting training. I provide a non-judging, safe environment to ensure the freedom of those willing to explore areas with which they might be struggling. This involves coming to terms with what is true for oneself and how life's experiences have effected us, in order to move towards living a truly authentic life.
I have been practicing counseling for over 25 years. I graduated from College of Notre Dame in 2000 with a dual masters degree in Child Marriage and Family Counseling and Art Therapy. My undergraduate degree was from the University of Montana. My clinical experience has been; a counselor at Achieve Therapeutic School in San Jose, California. FamiliesFirst in Campbell, California a private foster care agency working with children and families in foster care and shelters. In 2003 my husband and I moved from California to Texas as I accepted a position as Senior Counselor at St. Joseph Adolescent and Family Services, a division of Catholic Charities in Dallas. After 4 years at St. Josephs I moved to the Director of the program. In 2008 I left the commute to Dallas to work at Counseling and Consulting Associates of North Texas, a group practice in McKinney. I worked mainly with adults and teens there. In 2016 I decided I could do this on my own and started my practice which has been growing ever since and I'm loving it!
When I’m not working I happily spend my time raising my twin daughters with my husband, I enjoy being in nature, working out, spending time with friends and family and I love any time I can be out on the water.
Whether you seek extra support and guidance in a challenging situation or are just ready to move in a new direction in your life, I look forward to working with you to achieve your goals.

Hi I'm Dr. Galit, known by many names to
my clients: Dr. Birk, Dr. G, Galit, Gali (like “Bali”),
or simply G—whatever feels right.

I am a psychotherapist, a certified parent coach, a woman in midlife, and a single mom. In my life pre-counseling, I have been the Director of Pastoral Care for a local non-profit, a business development professional for a nationwide non-profit , and an HR professional in corporate America. I’ve also been a business owner - twice! With over 20 years of experience supporting adults, teens, couples, and families in various roles and industries I bring a rich background of experience to my work with clients.

My academic background includes
• M.A. in Labor Relations & Human Resource Management (Michigan State University)
• PhD in Psychology (Saybrook University)
• M.A. in Counseling (Amberton University)
• Coaching Certification (Seattle Pacific University)

My professional expertise includes grief and end-of-life issues, parenting issues, relationship dynamics including family and couples counseling, divorce, single parenting, blended families, women’s issues, career change and other life transitions. I also work with teens (14+) and their parents.

I offer an integrative approach to counseling that is rooted in person-centered and existential therapy and mixed with CBT and Appreciative Inquiry to help clients make change and lean into their strengths and aspirations.

Put simply: I offer a warm, collaborative space where we explore what matters most to you, work through challenges, and build on your strengths. I combine big-picture life reflection with practical tools to help you make meaningful changes and move toward the life you wish for. My work is grounded in compassion and clarity, I’m direct, real, and invite my clients to show up the same way.
On the personal side: I’m a mom to two school-aged kids (16 and 11), a former endurance athlete (by hobby only), a yoga lover, a poetry writer, and a food lover. I also love to meet new people!
I’d be honored to walk alongside you on your journey!

Maybe you are here because sometimes, your marriage is difficult, or maybe it is that your marriage
just isn't what you thought it would be, or maybe it's that your partner has different expectations
of what this marriage will look like in the future? I don't have to tell you about all the benefits that
come with having found that one special person, or about how easy it is for life's challenges to stack
up and suddenly everything feels wrong. I'm sure you've seen enough of that on TV and in movies and in your own life. What we don't see enough of in contrast is how to pick up the pieces. How to rebuild when things feel broken. How to make new meaningful relationships out of old painful ones. Therapy is one of the greatest investments that you could make not only in yourself but in your partner and in your family. My goal as your therapist is to help you get the most out of that investment. As a marriage and family therapy associate I'm uniquely poised to help you navigate romantic and familial relationships in all of their complexity. I work with neurodivergent, LGBTQIA+, mixed familes, high conflict, coparenting, families/couples navigating IVF, trauma, anxiety, and depression. I value authenticity and sincerity in my therapeutic relationships and I greatly appreciate novelty, and your story, like every story, is a new one, with unique chapters and unique challenges. I help couples prioritize results and real changes in their lives.
Who I Am
-Introspective and purpose-driven in my commitment to clients meet clients where they are, creatively, patiently, and with respect
- Intuitive, gentle, nonjudgemental and an advocate. Focused on the emotions of each family I work with, prioritizing and advocating
for authenticity and sincerity, I am committed to helping you rewrite your story into something that better aligns with your worldview and values.
Who You Are
- Seeking to bridge and navigate conflict in your family or relationships before or after they happen
- Trying to find a new way forward after traumatic changes in your family or relationships
- New and old parents alike, trying to do right by their kids and their spouses
- Divorced couples navigated the difficult world of coparenting and mixed families
- New couples navigating changing and often challenging differences in expectations and boundaries

"They made me feel so at ease and welcome. Therapy has helped me overcome so much in so little time.
I highly recommend Lovejoy Counseling."

"I was struggling with why I didn't enjoy my perfect life, Amalia helped me to see into areas I was avoiding,
I feel so much peace that used to be anxiety."

"I couldn't talk with my teen, I was scared for her all the time. Both of us talking to counseling helped bring
us back together."
